Guidelines for Presenters

Guidelines for Presenters

The Scientific Committee extends heartfelt thanks to all contributors who submitted their work to the Conference. A total of 560 abstracts were submitted to the 37th ECS conference in Dundee, and this included many truly high-quality submissions. All abstracts have been reviewed by at least three independent reviewers who scored abstracts blindly to ensure fairness, objectivity, and scientific integrity. This review process therefore included more than 270 expert reviewers and 1690 individual reviews.

Operating within the constraints of a three-day single session conference, the majority of abstracts have been accepted in the poster presentation format. Poster sessions offer a different kind of visibility and presentation platform, usually with more time for in‑depth discussion, direct engagement, and meaningful exchanges with colleagues. Our poster team is working hard to organise the poster sessions so that related topics are thoughtfully grouped together, helping to maximise exposure and interest from attendees and create a strong environment for scientific conversation, making the poster sessions as valuable as possible.

On this page, we further have recommendations for how you can maximise the value of your poster session - as well as the guidelines for poster sizes and orientation, and information on the talk formats. Please read these guidelines carefully.

POSTERS

Each posters can be up to A0 format (84.1 cm x 118.9 cm), and must be in portrait orientation.

We suggest using a minimum text size of 24 points to ensure readability from a distance of about 1-2 meters.

It is recommended to include:

  • A photo of the first author

  • The conference logo
The official logo can be downloaded here.

  • The poster number given by the Scientific Committee at the top right corner
You can check your number by looking at the Poster Code List which will be made available after the early bird registration).

Should you be presenting a poster you have already printed and which does not include these features, please print them separately and stick them on somewhere visible.

Posters must be hung on the assigned panels using the adhesive tape that will be provided by the conference organisers. It is useful to include a QR CODE that directs to a pdf file containing your poster so that interested colleagues can download it. QR codes are also great if you have video footage to share, or additional figures.

On-site printing (optional):

We are working on local poster printing deals with local suppliers - more information will be made available soon. Please note that if you would like to take advantage of this service you will likely need to have your poster ready to print at least 3 - 4 weeks prior to the conference.

TALKS

To prepare your oral presentations and short talks, consider the format of your powerpoint to be 16:9

When creating your presentation slides, please keep in mind that each ORAL presentation should last 10 minutes, with an additional 2 minutes for Q&A. The expected duration of a SHORT TALK is 4 minutes.

Official logos of the Conference can be downloaded here.
