Welcome Students to the ECS!
My name is Serena Lagorio. I am from Italy (Moncalieri), I graduated in Marine Biology (Master degree in Ancona - Italy) in February 2016 and in Physical Oceanography (Master degree in Malta) in December 2017. The Marine Biology thesis, in collaboration with Oceanomare Delphis, studied the acoustic repertoire of the Sperm whales' social units in the Thyrrenian Sea; the thesis in Physical Oceanography studied the marine litter coming from the sea and from land around the Maltese coastline. At the moment, I am working in Husavik (Iceland) as a whale watching guide tour and marine biologist on board. It is such a pleasure to educate about marine mammals and to teach about the conservation of their ecosystems.
I am extremely pleased to have been elected as the student representative in Italy 2018. I am so grateful I have the opportunity to represent your voice during the ECS conferences and to be able to share with you all our passions and our purposes. Therefore, if you have any worries or issues please do not hesitate to contact me. If you have any feedback or ideas for ECS and the student workshop, please get in touch! If I can be of any help in regards to volunteering, internships and job opportunities then please ask and I will do my best to help!
There is an email list called firstname.lastname@example.org which students can subscribe to and be updated with available opportunities but also to post questions.
