Student volunteering

Banner 35th ECS conference

The successful execution of the ECS Conference greatly depends on the students who volunteer in the event helping the Local Organizing Committee and the Council. This is where you come in! Students members of the ECS (with valid membership registration for the current year) can volunteer at the conference and benefit from free conference registration.

Volunteering is required for about a third of your time at the conference, including workshop days. Volunteer shifts may include assistance for registrations, microphone management and other room services during talk and poster sessions, etc.

The student volunteers will be coordinated by the student representatives of the ECS Local Organizing Committee and the Council.

Application opening: 8th January 2024 (10:00 AM CET)

Application deadline: 29th January 2024 (23:59 CET)

Applications closed!

Student Travel Support

Limited funds are available to provide grants towards travel/subsistence costs for students with an accepted abstract. If you are earning a salary, you are not eligible. The grants are intended for cases of genuine hardship. Please think carefully before applying for a grant.

Grants, if any, will be contingent upon the volume of applications received. These will be conferred exclusively to those who are duly registered and attend the conference. Consequently, the decision, along with any potential reimbursement of expenses, will be communicated only after April 10th.

Students can request support through this online form no later than March 8th, 2024.

The ECS Council, together with the LOC, is available to evaluate also requests for financial support from non-student members to alleviate significant hardships arising from extraordinary circumstances (e.g. armed conflict, natural disasters).

If you'd like to join the conference and feel this applies to you, please write an email illustrating your situation to ecs2024@marecamp.com by March 22nd, 2024.

For any further questions on student matters please contact the ECS student representative
students@europeancetaceansociety.eu

Hope to see you all there!
