22^nd ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Egmond aan Zee, Netherlands, 10-12 March 2008

The 22^nd Annual Conference of the European Cetacean Society will be organised in The Netherlands (Egmond aan Zee) in the week of 10-12 March 2008. Workshops will be set up in the weekend 8-9 March with a possibility to do so also on Thursday 13 March. The main title is:

"MARINE MAMMALS IN TIME:
PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE"

PLEASE take note of the following dates. This time the conference will be early so all deadlines are early. This saves you a lot of time and thinking, you will have to act now! The Conference webpages are here.

The Conference will be organised in The Netherlands (Hotel Zuiderduin in Egmond aan Zee, familiar to some) in the week of 10-12 March 2008. Workshops will be set up in the weekend 8-9 March with a possibility to do so also on Thursday 13 March.

• Abstracts for any talk, poster presentation, video presentation or workshop MUST be available to reviewers by 15 December 2007. Talks that fit the theme are very welcome:
• PAST - palaeontology, archaeology, evolution, 16th-17th century whaling or research (strandings),
• PRESENT - forgotten science: lab and museum basic research, taxonomy, anatomy, 20th centary whaling and tourism,
• FUTURE - climate change, effects on populations and food, monitor species. The emphasis is on the less sexy but very basic research.
• Requests for financial support (students or scientists with low financing) must also be available by 15 December 2007.
• This includes information needed for passport and visa.
• Financial support depends on availibility of funds and on number of requests.
• Forms for review submitting are available on the ECS site until 15 December.

• Before the end of 2007 the review process will have led to the acceptance of several talks.

• Early registration for the conference will END by11 January.
• Late registration will end 8 February.
