EUROPEAN CETACEAN SOCIETY

17th ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, 10-13 March, 2003

The 17th Annual Conference of the European Cetacean Society took place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, in March 2003 and was hosted by Michel André.
The theme of the conference was:

"MARINE MAMMALS AND SOUND"

The Annual General Meeting 2003 decided upon a position paper: the Statement by the Council of the ECS on Sounds and Cetaceans.
A conference centre four times the size we need. Located -smack- on the beach! How do you keep your attendees inside? Well, most did because the subject was even more enticing than the beach, but it was hard on some. Being (kindly) removed from our nightly dancing spot downtown by the local police. Learning the local version of the flamenco by Canarian dancers. The final and outrageous BBQ. But for me also: the local drag queen carnival which we hit upon the night before the conference started and the drag queen presence at the formal dinner.
The best drag queen at our dinner. sdcfsd

The final goodbye to Chris Lockyer after so many years of service at the ECS Council, presenting her with a remembrance document.
